In recent years, Calvinists have resorted to using the unbiblical institution of Seminaries to spread Calvinistic doctrine. It is reported that 30% of Southern Baptist Seminary graduates are Calvinists today! Southern Baptists have been predominantly Arminian fundamentalists, so the dependence on human works in eternal salvation will continue to permeate these churches as they change over to Calvinistic theology. Modern Calvinism teaches a sovereign Grace salvation through predestination by God - but negates it's own basis by claiming that professing believers who fall away will not make it to heaven - forgetting completely the life of King Solomon.

The true hope of the Gospel [Good News] is that God not only chooses His elect but saves them totally independent of man's fallen [corrupted] will.... and that they are secure because He does it all. Living the Christian life is a temporal deliverance from many moral and social ills, which also purges the natural conscience to give peace and comfort to the saints. A grossly disobedient child does not cease to be a child, but looses the favor which affords him peace through a clean conscience. A Christian may so abuse his conscience, so that he looses the peace that would afford him confidence in a life in the hereafter, but from the Father's perspective, His son will loose none of those for whom He died! This proper view of the Old School Baptists is biblical and opposes the false doctrine of the Calvinists which declare dogmatically that the gross backslider gives proof that he was not chosen by God in the first place. This Calvinist caveat is what allows them to try to bind and enslave believers so they can extract tithes and offering more easily to keep their large commercial evangelical efforts afloat - similar to their theological mother, Augustinian sacramental Catholicism. No money flowing, no denominational success.

In the 1960's the Southern Baptists formulated that the missionary cost of winning a soul then was $6.38 each. This money driven evangelical philosophy is the foundation that keeps the 'works theology' alive and it's adherents paying their fair share of church taxes [donations]. Slick 5th Avenue promotion, with huge physical plants and full orchestral services, makes merchandizing their brand of Christianity very lucrative for those who need to feel religiously satisfied. The true hope of the Gospel [good news] is not what God has done, [Psa 51:1-4] but what men have done through will and effort! Modern Evangelical Christians should be as leery of Calvinism and Arminian fundamentalism as they have traditionally been of Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses and Roman Catholicism.

Forgot to say thanks for sharing:) and also 1John5:3,says Here is what it means to love God.It means we obey his commands. And his commands are not hard to obey. But Romans13:8-13 says this also and speaks about our full salvation. as well as Thessalonians and Corinthians! God bless

Hi all,not sure if the dust is settled yet but,John6:65 "This is why I told you that people can't come to me unless the Father helps them."Matthew5:17"Do not think I have come to get rid of what is written in the law or the prophets.I have not come to do that.Instead,I have come to give full meaning to what is written. What I'm about to tell you is true.Heaven and earth will disappear before the smallest letter disappears from the law.Not even the smallest stroke of a pen will disappear from the law until everything is completed.Everything is not completed until the Second Coming, when the day of judgment is done,so if you have not been saved by the blood of Jesus, then you will be judged by the law, which is death. We as Christians, still have to deal with our flesh, the world and the devil,Romans13:11says we obey God because we love him when we stumble, his Spirit convicts us,till we ask God to forgive us so we can be back in right standing with him and also v.11 says Our full salvation is closer now than it was when we first begun, our full salvation will happen when Christ comes for his own,we will be changed, like Jesus,in the Fathers eyes we are not under law but by his Son Jesus blood, and we will get our reward according to God's riches and what we have done with the gifts that he has given to each of us,for we are servants of God.1Thessalonians1:3Your work is produced by your faith.Your service is the result of your love.Amen

This is a very short and concise blog. There is no wasted words and it gets to the point. It would make for a wonderful...and short sermon.

Well I did answer when I quoted ....(For [the children] being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;) Romans 9:11

No, there is not anything that you can do to seperate you from the love of God.....Rom 8

After all it started with Him loving us.....

I agree that works does not "get you in". You still have not answered my question though. Since there is nothing we can do to get in, is there anything that we can do to not get in?

Oh, and you are one to talk about others disagreeing with you. ;)

God Bless, Jereme

BTW, It OK to disagree with me. It seems to be the fashion lately. :-)

There is nothing you can do to obtain eternal salvation. It is competely by Gods grace and not in accordance with your works, whether good or evil.

Here is the pattern. Concerning Jacon and Esau, who were twins it is said.
(For [the children] being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;) Romans 9:11

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. eph 2:8-9

God did not base His election of us upon our works, whether good or evil. Many other scriptures speak to this truth.

Now to the child of God that rebels and walks after the flesh, you can be sure that He will be chastened.

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Rev 3:19

I wil say further that a child of God that backslides will not have the assurance that Heaven is his home. He only has that assurance when He is walking in obedience to The Lord.

There is nothing we can do to change the realtionship between us and The Father. We are His, we are bought with a price. However we can do much to mess up the fellowship. That is for sure.

So does this mean that you can do whatever you want and still go to Heaven? I mean if you can't do anything to get in it seems that you can't do anything to not be able to get in, right?

I am not necessarily disagreeing. I am just curious as to what your stance is on this.

God Bless, Jereme

Oh I get it. It is all by the grace of God. PERIOD.
There is nothing we can do to secure it. It is in Gods hands.

Salvation is of The Lord.
